Is the District going to implement random drug testing at Conestoga High School?
The District has no plan at this time to implement a program of random student drug testing. In fact, our District solicitor has informed the School Board that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has not upheld or even clearly endorsed a random drug-testing policy in public schools. As part of the Districts continual review process, there is a plan in place to conduct an independent review of our current program of substance abuse prevention and intervention strategies to help determine which research-based strategies will best address the needs of students. The review is scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2005-2006 school year.
