Is the District currently reviewing redistricting options that do not include Penn Wynne students transitioning to Welsh Valley and Harriton?
The District will continue to consider options and variations for redistricting that are different than the first draft plan presented on September 8th. The goal is to have a final plan approved by the Board in December. To date, the District has reviewed a number of “alternative” scenarios presented by consultant Ross Haber that have incorporated a variety of feeder patterns and configurations. The central goal in the development of any scenario is achieving equalized enrollments at the high schools. Several scenarios have been immediately rejected on the basis of significant enrollment imbalances. Other scenarios have been rejected because they were not consistent with the “non-negotiables” established by the Board of Directors, the Report on Community Values and other geographical limitations.
