Yes, the district is applying for the grant that is offered through the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. In order to be eligible for the grant, districts need to have allocated in their budget money specifically designated for security. Unfortunately, the current 2007-08 budget did not have money budgeted for security in the schools, hence we were not eligible to apply this year. The good news is that another round of grant monies will be coming out this spring. We now are eligible to apply as we have budgeted for security measures in the 2008-09 budget. Return 20. How much will local property taxes increase because of this proposal next year assuming the same grand list as the current year?
