Is the death penalty an effective crime deterrant?
I think there is actually a couple of ways to look at this question. I don’t know if the death penalty actually stops someone that is thinking about committing a crime from committing it. However, the death penalty does stop those that are executed from committing more crimes which is great in my mind. I can’t count the number of times someone was put in prison for a violent crime, paroled, and then released to commit more violent crimes.
