Is the current leader of Afghanistan any more legitimate than that imposed by the USSR in 1980?
He was not imposed by the USSR. He was installed by the people of Afghanistan. They requested help from the USSR when US-backed Taliban was trying to go back to the old Islamic feudal style of society. There is nothing different about the Taliban everyone hates today and the one that was trying to depose the old secular, women-empowering government.
