Is the CSU General Education pattern (LBCC Plan B) required for admission to a CSU campus?
Certification of GE-Breadth (LBCC Plan B) is not required prior to transfer. However, it is highly suggested. CSU campuses will accept partial certification of one or more complete areas (e.g., all of the units required for Area A). The “Golden Four” courses, which are part of General Education, are required for transfer to CSU campuses. Completing all of the areas and obtaining full certification will fulfill all lower division general education at a CSU campus. (Note: 30 units of GE courses must be completed for admission to a CSU). If you are using courses from another college or university to be placed into the LBCC Plan B, please make sure that those transcripts from your other schools are sent to LBCC and that you see a counselor to officially place these GE courses in the LBCC Plan B. This process is known as “pass-along” certification, and must be completed by an LBCC counselor.
