Is the Cranial Closing Wedge Osteotomy (CCWO) the same as the TPLO?
A. Yes, in theory, however, the CCWO straightens the leg, and multiple jigs are necessary for each of the different angles. In addition, the conformation of the animal’s leg is altered which would prevent dogs from reentering the show ring. If the dog has a crouched posture or has excessive tibial plateau slope, the CCWO can be used in conjunction with the TPLO.
