Is the cost of private caregivers subsidized in any way or tax deductible?

0

The cost incurred to provide private caregivers is not subsidized by the Government or OHIP. The Government does, however, provide some assistance for care that is assessed and evaluated for eligibility through the Community Care Access Centre. This benefit would be considered as well and taken into account when determining what amount of private care is required. We all work together for the benefit of your parent. There is Long Term Care insurance available privately, that can assist with the eventual need for care and cost to a parent, if they are not already receiving care or if they have already purchased this policy previously. In addition, a majority of health and home care costs are tax deductible to the Client (parent) if they are assessed as being disabled as outlined in the Disability Tax Credit Certificate required by Canada Revenue and completed and signed by their physician.
