Is the cork taint problem definitely solved with synthetic closures?
Cork taint is mostly due to the presence of molecules that form inside the bark of Quercus Suber, commonly called the Cork Oak. Therefore, it is possible to claim that synthetic closures are exempt from cork taint. However, other factors can also be responsible for taint such as the presence of contamination in the wine cellar itself. The cork taint problem can be solved for the vast majority of cases. However if the wine is contaminated because of conditions in the cellar, synthetic closures will not solve the problem.
