Is the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan based on sound science?
Sound science has always been, and continues to be, the basis for the Comprehensive Plan. The Plan was developed by a team that included biologists, ecologists, economists, engineers, geographic information systems specialists, hydrologists and planners from a number of federal, state, tribal and local government agencies. Throughout the plan development process, the team used the best available data and state-of-the-art scientific and engineering models. Peer review is an integral part of the Plan, and will be used to validate the scientific underpinnings of the Plan and point out needed adjustments. State-of-the-art scientific and engineering models were used. To develop the restoration plan, the Natural System Model and the South Florida Water Management Model, both of which have undergone technical peer review, represent the best understanding of the hydrology of both the pre-drainage and the current C&SF system. The Across Trophic Level System Simulation model was developed to pre
