Is the color in champagne diamonds natural?
Yes. Diamonds are naturally found in more colors than most other gemstones. The formation of natural color diamonds requires unimaginable heat and pressure exerted on the carbon crystals in rocks, and the presence of trace elements in the crystal’s lattice structure. Tremendous heat and pressure on a diamond deep in the earth can abnormally compress and distort its structure, creating red, pink, purple or brown stones. If nitrogen, boron, hydrogen or another element interacts with carbon atoms during a diamond’s creation, the diamond’s color can change. Radiation during creation can also affect a diamond’s color.
