Is the coach allowed to touch the robot during competition?

During the competition (as well as the whole season!) only the kids should be running the robot. The adults should keep their hands off! The only exception I have ever seen was a team that got hit by the flu. Only one student was able to make it to the tournament. During the teams match, the coach stood nearby and handed him parts as he called for them.
