Is the Challenger mkII still the best main battle tank?
I wasn’t aware the Challenger II (not mkII) was ever the best. It has lost every international procurement competition in which it has been submitted – Greece, Turkey, Sweden, etc… Also, like with any piece of hardware, there is no such thing as the best. What is “best” for one user might be totally unsuitable for another. For example: many countries simply don’t have the infrastructure to support a 70 ton tank. Even India had to rule out the western behemoths because the T-90 was the largest tank their road and rail network could support.
