Is the Canon Rebel digital camera a good choice, or is a Nikon better?

The nikon d60 or d40 are CHEAPER cameras. Both in price, quality and build than the Canon Digital Rebel Xti or XSi or the new XS. However the Canon is much better built and built to last and not be a “throw away” camera like the nikons. Also all the current Caonon leness will work on the Canon Cameras, but the Nikon lenses will not work on them as they dont have a focusing motor so they cant focus with many of the lenses. That is a way nikon cut corners to make a cheaper camera, but also really screwed a lot of the owners as they might not understand the long list of lenses that wont work on them! If you are looking to get a good Digital Camera that is for a beginer or even medium user, then the Rebel XSi would be great!! The Rebel Xs has less features, but still takes a great picture and is designed for the beginer. The Xti is the older model that is still in production for a while and will save you some $$ and you will get a great camera! The most bang for yoru buck to get you starte
