I think that the level of living of the middle class depends on many factors. Now the US has a lot of financial and economical problems and a high level of debt. The situation in Canada is better due to the stable economical situation and the lower level of the mortgage price for houses. Moreover the educational system in Canada is set in such manner that people who get education are demanded and they can find appropriate job and cover the student debts. This makes them less dependent on personal lending that increase the level of living due to lower debt level.
