Is the camera equipped with an AF illuminator?
This model employs an AF illuminator function integrated into the built-in flash. It is not possible to use the AF illuminator without firing the built-in flash. When using an external flash, which employs the AF illuminator function, the AF illuminator can be used with flash function as well as without flash function (HVL-58, HVL-42: by setting the external flash to “flash cancel” mode; HVL-56, HVL-36, 5600 HS (D), 3600 HS (D): simply by leaving the flash turned off).
