Is the bulb and ballast life affected?
No, lamps and ballasts are not affected with proper use of LuxWiz Energy Savers. In fact, when power is reduced to the lighting system using LuxWiz, the lamps and ballasts of the lighting system will run cooler and this will prolong their operational life spans. This means reduced recurring maintenance and replacement costs. Studies have also shown that heat generated from the lighting system of a building have a direct impact on the air-conditioning energy consumption. A cooler lighting system from reducing power to it using LuxWiz Energy Savers whenever possible will result in substantial air-conditioning energy saving. Studies by ASHRAE (i.e. American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers) puts the air-conditioning energy saving (in kWh) at 1/3 that of the lighting power saving (also in kWh) as a rule of thumb estimation.
