Is the book of Revelations talking about real events or is it all a bunch of parables like how Jesus used to teach?
Good question. “Revelation” is a little bit of both. It’s realism, and it’s also symbolism. For example, we all know there is no such thing as an actual, physical beast with ten heads, and ten horns walking around in our backyard. This is symbolism. However, we know that war and famine are real. This is the realism of Revelations. It just takes thinking and a little prayer to God for the thinking power and the wisdom to discern between the two, when reading Revelation – for the entire Bible as a matter of fact. I would NOT reccommend reading the book of Revelation when just starting out as a baby Christian. If you are THAT curious about it (and that’s good that you are – you need to know about it) then I would suggest reading it with someone who is more educated in the field (ie: Pastor, Associate Pastor, etc.) If you’re a new Christian, I’d suggest reading JOHN first.
