Is the book New Moon by Stephanie Meyer appropriate?
You don’t specify “appropriate” for whom. If you mean for a teenaged person, I would definitely say yes. It is full of typical angst, but with no sex, no swearing. For someone younger than, say, 12, a lot of the protagonist’s internal drama is probably going to go right over his or her head, and may find some of the story’s more intense, dark aspects (this is a vampire story, after all) a little disturbing…but only for a youngun’.
