Answer Bob: I would not say that the Bible is inerrant, no. I will not say that the Bible is infallible, however. The difference to me is this: inerrancy forces the Bible to be what it is not. It is not intended to be a science book, for instance. Galileo got in trouble with the Inquisition because they insisted on an inerrant view of Scripture (the sun revolves around the earth). The Bible is a book of faith. Its purpose is to lead me to salvation. It contains all we need to know about the Gospel, the Good News that Jesus life, death and resurrection frees me from Sin, Death, and the Devil (Luther). In that it is infallible, that is, it will not lead me astray.
