Is the Better Business Bureau a scam???
My experiences showed that the BBB ran boiler rooms literally blackmailing business into joining and paying dues, if a potential customer called the BBB for a reference and the business was not a member, they just said in a sarcastic tone of voice: “We have no record of any such business”, if the business was a member they sat on all complaints advising the business to resolve them on the basis that they cannot reveal any derogatory information unless, and until, the business is actually convicted of violating any ethical breaches. After several threatening solicitations in the 60s I considered joining and looked at the roster of contractors, every crook in town was a member, a couple even being officers.
