Is the average education level of people in the UK too low?

Looking at some of the questions and answers on here, I would say yes. That applies to both the content and the standard of spelling and grammar. I think that older people were better educated. They have a greater general knowledge and a higher standard of literacy. Everyone these days seems to get 10 GCSEs at A* grade, yet they cannot read or write correctly or express an opinion coherently. The exams have definitely been dumbed down, which serves absolutely no purpose.

yes but remember that includes all the bums and chavs as well so the real education level is alot higher than it really is
