I’m not sure where you heard that the ATO withheld returns last year because of overloading. Prior to the new systems going in over the past six months, there was always a delay at the start of the new financial year as a system rollover had to occur and systems were taken offline and put through back up processes for the first week to ten days. This always happened, and it always led to delays for early returns. With the new system in place this rollover does not need to occur and returns are being processed as normal.
