Take a look at the Hampton Inn in downtown dallas. It’s about $150 a night and would be close – within walking distance if you don’t bring much with you – to both the bus station and the American Airlines center. The Ramada on Market Center could definitely require a taxi ride to both places so you might be better off paying a little more for the hotel. You are right the bus station is NOT in a great neighborhood and has lots of homeless people milling around. In the daytime it will be safe for you. Dallas is so different from NYC (nobody lives downtown and there are very few street level businesses) that the area cannot be compared. The Hampton is a chain I’ve had very good luck with and it is near the west end, which is a touristy area.
