Is the amount of spots on a ladybird equal to how old it is?
The number of spots a ladybug has determine the species, not the age. A ladybug keeps the same number of spots throughout it’s life – it has as many when it comes out of its chrysalis as it does when it dies. However, there are many different species of ladybugs, and though they are all red with spots, the number and placement of the spots is different for each one. Ladybugs are not highly poisonous to humans – if you ate one, you wouldn’t die. They do emit foul-tasting chemicals to keep predators away, though, so you probably wouldn’t want to eat them.
