Is the Alexander Technique like yoga or Pilates?

No. The Alexander Technique is not an exercise regime involving repetitions of particular movements. You are not learning exercises or postures. You are learning to identify habits which cause inappropriate tension and to find ways of letting that tension go. From my own experience yoga and Pilates, if well taught, can be very useful, but it is best to have done some Alexander Technique beforehand so that you don’t reinforce existing distorting habits while doing the exercises.
