Is the Alabama Constitution a racist document?
In its present form as Alabama’s governing document, no one in Alabama is denied their civil rights. However, even though they have been amended, the sections in the original constitution containing the racist language remain in the document. As part of the reform process, these sections should be removed entirely. Will changing our constitution improve our education system? Not necessarily. Those who think that replacing our constitution will improve education believe that education funding would dramatically increase. Studies have shown there is no definite link between increased funding and improved academics. However, if a new constitution required only that competent teachers and principles be hired and retained; that local school boards be allowed greater flexibility in the management of their resources, including the option to contract out non-academic services; that parents be given the option of choosing private education for their children and provided a tax credit to help co
