Is the Alabama Constitution a racist document?
In its present form as Alabama’s governing document, no one in Alabama is denied their civil rights. However, even though they have been amended, the sections in the original constitution containing the racist language remain in the document. As part of the reform process, these sections should be removed entirely. Will changing our constitution improve our education system? Not necessarily.
