NO. Unlike other commonly used hemostatic agents, QuikClot dressings do not contain animal or human proteins, such as chitosan or thrombin – which can cause allergic reactions. The active ingredient in QuikClot dressings is a naturally occurring inert mineral called kaolin, which has been known for more than half a century to clot blood.
