Is the Academy of Art University a good school?
On One Hand: History and MissionThe Academy of Art University is a well known institution for art and design. Established in 1929, the academy set about on a mission to hire professional designers to teach aspiring artists. The school is centrally located in the midst of San Francisco–an artistic hub–and, according to U.S. News & World Report, “provides an opportunity” for off-site students “to enroll in most of its degree programs online.”On the Other: Student ReviewsStudent reviews of the Academy of Art University–according to StudentReviews.com–leave a lot to be desired. The university is repeatedly charged with being absent when it comes to properly mentoring its students for graduation and for entry into the real world, and complaints are also ample when it comes to “unsatisfactory” teachers and student expenses.
