The Abu Garcia company started out making watches way back in 1921, in the Swedish town of Svangsta. However ten years later, Gote Borgstrom, the founder’s son, decided to focus their efforts on the making of precision fishing reels. After many sleepless nights of brainstorming for designs and concepts for their reels, they finally came up with their first reel, the Abu Record. This was followed by the Abu Garcia Ambassadeur and then the Cardinal.
