Is the “abstinence only” educational initiative to reduce teen pregnancies just?
Before answering the question, it is wise to define what we mean. The word “just” is deifned as “Honorable and fair in one’s dealings and actions.” (American Heirtage Dictionary-Second College Edition) While I agree that abstinence should be discussed in any dialogue concerning sex, I would hardly call it fair to say that “abstinence-only” education would reduce teen pregnancies. The easy and obvious example of this is the current governor of Alaska-Sarah Palin. She believes in abstinence-only education. She has a pregnant teen-aged daughter. Abstinence-only education obviously doesn’t work.
