The ABA or American Bar Association proclaims a byline on their logo and brand name; “Defending Liberty, Pursuing Justice” and yet from observation, well it’s really hard to see that. After all, there are lawyers on all sides of issues. There are lawyers who defend fraudulent business men, lawyers that defend known murderers, and there are lawyers who are crooked politicians. Very few lawyers are ever expelled from the Bar. Case in point might be Elliot Spitzer, who used extortion tactics to shake down businesses and went after prostitution rings, yet partook in the services of their competition. Of course, he certainly is not the first corrupted politician who is a lawyer, nor will he be the last. It often seems that those who have the most authority abuse the privilege the most.
