People living with HIV often have chronic pain or muscle and joint stiffness. Hip pain can be a problem for the HIV+ person, depending on its cause. One possible explanation for the hip pain you are having is a disorder of the hip circulation and subsequent bone death known as avascular necrosis or AVN for short. If you are experiencing hip pain, groin pain or are unable to bear weight or walk on your hip you should talk to your doctor to see if AVN may be the cause.
