If you entered your surname on the Indian passport application it should also be entered in your passport; maybe the passport office will get back to you and request you to enter your parents names in your application. BTW: There are Indian and Indonesian people who only have a first name, but they can still get visa. They enter their first name in the surname column and enter “NFN” [no further names] in the first name column of the visa application..
