Is telemarketing helpful in getting media outlets to use a PSA?
In some cases, telemarketing can be helpful. However, we do not believe that simply calling stations and asking them did you get our PSA and are you going to use it will be productive. First, there is the issue of cost. Our experience shows you must make a minimum of three calls to get one successful connection with the appropriate individual at the station. Secondly, stations are being bombarded with these type of calls that many regard as a nuisance and are increasingly using voice mail to screen calls. If it is the same old survey, asking the same tired old questions, they simply won t respond.
