Is tattoo removal painful?
The good news is that having a tattoo removed is less painful than getting a tattoo in the first place. Many clients define the removal sensation as similar to having a rubber band snapped on your skin. Our Zimmer Cyro 6 skin cooling system avoids having to use a local anesthetic. It takes discomfort away from the procedure, making you more comfortable in the process.
That depends on the method of tattoo removal that you choose. Invasive procedures, such as Excision, Dermabrasion, and Salabrasion do come with a certain level of discomfort that can last for days after the procedure. During the procedure though, local anesthetics are typically applied to comfort that patient. Once the anesthetics wear off is when the discomfort typically begins. Incisions and stitches take time to heal. Areas where skin was removed may cause some level of discomfort until healed. Everyone has a different pain threshold, and what may be painful to one person may not bother another. Your physician may write you a prescription to help manage any discomfort. Each case and procedure is different, and this is at the discretion of the doctor. You should consult your physician on the pain factor for your specific tattoo removal procedure, and your physician can set your level of expectation. On the other hand, laser tattoo removal typically only causes some brief discomfort.
