I think the most important thing to do is to review what you’re getting in the vitamin. Some feature mega-doses of vitamins, and depending on the vitamin, that could be harmful. Of course, that would depend on the frequency of you taking the vitamin two times a day. Occasionally may not be bad. There are 2 schools of thought that battled when it came to setting the RDA . It was the disease prevention group versus the optimal health group. The disease prevention group won. So the RDAs are set as minimums to keep you healthy. If you think that you may need more, there are many books out there that will focus on different needs (eg you smoke, you drink, you get sick easily, etc) and let you know when you may need extra supplementation.
