Is taking 75mg of diphenhydramine hci safe?

The diphenhydramine is ok to take in that dose if taken every 6 hours, but it probably won’t help. It’s an antihistamine – it blocks the reaction that causes runny noses, sneezing, itching, etc… due to allergies and other irritants. If you have sinus problems and other cold symptoms try a different medication. If you don’t mind going to the pharmacy counter, I would ask for some Pseudoephedrine – this is what original Sudafed is. It’s still an over-the-counter drug (you don’t need a prescription) but it’s kept behind the counter. You’ll need to sign for it. It’s one of the best medicines out there for congestion and sinus pressure. If you don’t want to do that, then get any other cold product with a decongestant in it. I’d try phenylephrine. Any of the SUdafed produtcs you can buy in the regular cough and cold aisle should have that in it – but generic versions are just as good, and will save you money.
