Is Tailoring and Alchemy good for a mage?
I think it’s just fine. To be perfectly honest, I’ve found Alchemy to be one of the most flexible professions out there. Your profession is one of the few that is portable: you can make potions and elixirs anywhere. You also make buffs and potions not only for yourself (but that’s a darn good reason– who wants to pay for mana/health pots when you can make them for free?) but for your guild and groups as well. Unless you’re 100% sold on having the Spellfire, Spellstrike or Shadowweave set on you when you’re 70 (and there are decent alternatives), stick with Alch/Herb. You’ll be able to sell the herbs you don’t need for your own use, which will bolster your finances incredibly. Speaking as someone who has gone through tailoring/enchanting, while it’s a good combination to level (you can DE whatever you don’t sell), I found it very restrictive for making cash, since I had no gathering profession.
