Is systems-built the same as a trailer home or manufactured home?
No, they could not be more different. The one similarity is that both are mostly built off site. The similarity ends there. Systems built homes can be any size, and consist of any number of modules. Mansions greater than 10,000 square feet are routinely being systems built. Complex rooflines are commonly designed for systems built homes. Hip as well as gable roofs are common, as are gable, hip and shed dormer windows. By contrast, most manufactured (also called HUD-Code) homes are one or two sections, usually small by anyone’s standards, have a permanently mounted steel chassis and normally have simple low-pitched gable roofs.
