Is surgery in children different than in adults?

0

Yes. It is precisely because of these differences that Operation Rainbow seeks medical volunteers who are experts in their field in working with children. Additionally, we go out of our way to ease the stress and anxiety of the families and the children in our care. Imagine wanting a miracle for your child, and the people who are able to deliver that miracle do not speak your language, do not look like you and your family, and have only met you within a few days or hours of the surgery for your child. That is the feeling many families of our patients experience during one of our missions. We do everything in our power to reassure the family and the child that we are going to do all in our power to make their ‘miracle’ happen. Sometimes it’s a hug, a gentle smile, or a thoughtful and knowing look. The volunteers on our teams speak an international language of caring and do what they can to make the surgery easier for everyone.
