Is strength training good for kendo?
Yes. If I were you (since I focused on this type of power for bokken and aikido training) here’s what I’d do. 1. Work the lats. They do most of the pulling down. 2. Work the rest of your back 3. Work your legs for speed. Sprints are great for this. 4. Work your shoulders. They get tired so you’ll want good strength and endurance here. 5. Work the wrists and forearms. In something like kendo, grip power is a must.
