Jackson Mississippi was founded long before the Confederate General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson became famous at the Battle of Manasas. I’m not positive but it was probably named after Andrew Jackson, the President of the US. But “Jackson” is a common name and could be a local Mississippian.
