Many photographers agrees that the image quality of a picture captured on a high quality negative film is better than a picture captured with most digital camera sensors, even digital SLRs (mainly because negative film has a better exposure latitude than regular CCD or CMOS sensors, therefore a wider dynamic range). Does anybody know any exception? Oh, such a complex question! In comparing digital with emulsion (film) photography you *must* consider all of the variables: Film is rated by the ASA/ISO system. The higher the ISO rating, the faster the film (less light needed to expose it properlly). The higher the ISO, the more noise in the final print.
