Is Starbucks Lowering Prices?
Starbucks has always been a mega-corporation in coffee production, and their prices have never necessarily been low. They did have the edge on the market for some time, which is exactly why they were able to charge a few dollars more than most other coffee chains. However, with the economic issues that we have been facing, Starbucks is also seeing the crunch, especially since they are now being rivaled by other fast food chains like McDonald’s. McDonald’s did issue a little coffee war with Starbucks when they started offering their McCafe drinks at a much cheaper price. They were pretty much attacking Starbucks directly in their advertising by saying that you did not have to go to a fancy coffee house to get a quality coffee drink, which is exactly what they were hoping to offer in their cheaper alternatives.
