Is sprinting bad for a long distance runner?

0

It depends. If you’re only doing sprinting then yes, it will affect you. But mixing sprinting into your distance workouts will benefit you. I completely dropped distance to do sprinting for a season and went back to distance and damn, a few miles seemed like hell. Sprinting will help though if you incorporate it into your current workouts. My coach, as it becomes championships season makes us do faster, sprint workouts. Such was 4×100. Sprinting is anaerobic. You can’t get oxygen to your muscles as readily like you do in distance.
