No I do not think spanking is a good form of discipline. Though If a child is about to touch something dangerous or is consistently touching inappropriate items, I think a tap on the back of the hand and a sharp NO may well be in order.

A sharp slap on a well-padded rear can sometimes be the only way to quickly persuade a child NOT to do something….but spanking I was never into…I think there are other ways of disciplining without having to hurt your hand or break weapons on a child.

Well, I normally suggest spanking as an effective way to take care of behavior problems…but every child is different. Some children will respond better to a firm, nonangry rebuke. Nowadays, spanking is seen as a form of violence, but that’s only true when a spanking is not done out of love. Any punishment that is not done out of love for the child is abuse.
