Is Southern Virginia University accredited?
Yes. Southern Virginia University was pre-accredited by the American Academy for Liberal Education in 2000 and received full accreditation in 2003. In July 2008, the university’s accreditation was renewed for the usual period of five years. Southern Virginia is also a candidate for accreditation with the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia certifies Southern Virginia University to operate and grant baccalaureate degrees. Additionally, Southern Virginia is authorized to participate in federal financial aid programs from the US Department of Education.
