Is Sony DAV-S500 optical input compatible with optical output from Pioneer DVD player DV-566K?

I’ve tried to connect optical output from Pioneer DV-566K to optical input of DAV-S500 but no sound. I also try using optical output from Sony Playstation 2 and it works so I think the optical input of DAV-S500 works fine. I tried every optical setting on DV-566K but still no luck. Do you have any idea?
