Is Sony BMG concerned about the fact that some of the big-time producers of Hindi cinema such as Subhash Ghai and Yash Chopra have launched their own music companies?
A. It is not a matter of significant concern. The entry barriers in this business are very low. This is a threat faced by the entire industry and is common to all the players. In fact, if some of the larger film-production companies are entering the music arena, it will be a constructive development as there will be a collective approach towards tackling issues like piracy and legislation. I expect them to partner us in addressing these collective issues as opposed to not being fully aware, or participating in them.
